Structural analysis

The microstructure of metals is made visible by structural analysis and thus the determination of physical and chemical material properties & compositions, microstructure types (e.g. ferrite, (residual) austenite, martensite, graphite, etc.) and internal defects is carried out. 

Furthermore, conclusions can be drawn from specific manufacturing processes (heat treatments, surface coatings, hardening processes, etc.) to the basic structure. 

Macroscopic and microscopic examination as well as analysis using SEM/EDX equipment are used. If necessary, also in combination with other destructive and non-destructive testing methods for an overall analysis of the material or component.
